Judy Khan QC was called to the Bar in 1989, became a Crown Court Recorder
(part time judge) in 2006 and was appointed as a QC in 2010. Judy is now joint Head of Chambers at Garden Court – a Chambers which is committed to social justice, equality and diversity. She is a criminal defence practitioner and has experience of dealing with cases across a broad spectrum of criminal offences. She particularly values representing young and vulnerable defendants and was counsel to the youngest person in living memory to be tried for murder at the Central Criminal Court. Judy was instructed in the Hillsborough Inquests; she headed a team of 5 barristers, dealing with the expert medical evidence for 77 of the deceased. Judy is of Caribbean origin and was state school educated. She is particularly keen to ensure that individuals from diverse backgrounds have access to the Bar.
